When officers caught up with Sara Gonzalez-Giraldo, 23, near Richards and Connecticut avenues, she appeared to climb out of the driver’s seat and into the passenger seat, police said. No one else was in the car, police said.
She appeared unsteady as she walked to a parking lot to be interviewed by officers, police said.
When questioned by officers, Gonzalez-Giraldo first said she had drunk two beers. She later said she had consumed more alcohol, including whiskey, police said.
After failing three sobriety tests, she consented to a Breathalyzer, but she inhaled instead of exhaling and didn’t seal her mouth around the tube, police said.
Officers escorted Gonzalez-Giraldo to her jail cell after her arrest, where she repeatedly kicked the cell door and screamed, police said.
Gonzalez-Giraldo was charged with operating a motor vehicle while under in the influence of alcohol. Her bond was set at $500 with a court date of April 15, police said.
